Myra
was waiting silently contemplating her reunion with Clem. “I wonder if he ever
thought about me?” as her thoughts pondered the past and the events leading up
to her family’s exodus from Russia to the Chezc republic. Clem had risen from
his seat on the airplane to use the washroom. He clamored through the isle with
his overnight case and entered and locked the door. Staring at the graying hair
and deepening lines across his forehead in the mirror he opened his case and
pulled out the toothbrush and toiletries he brought to freshen up. The plane
would be landing in another 40 minutes and he wanted to be presentable for his
love. His mind wandered to the past as he toiled with his looks. His feelings
of guilt weighed heavy on his soul. “I’m sorry Myra” played over and over in
his mind.

in the Past:

walked briskly across the street from the bakery. She looked right then left to
make sure no cars were coming and stepped off the curb. A powerful arm grasped
hers and yanked her back to the curb as a truck immediately gunned its engine
and pulled right in front of her as it turned the corner and traversing part of
the sidewalk. “Ugh! She whimpered and caught her breath as the strange man
turned her and pulled her close to avoid the crushing tires. He’d placed
himself between the truck and her. The side of the front bumper brushed his
legs almost toppling him over backwards. He held tightly and used the weight of
her body to stay upright.
As the truck passed
the young woman responded, “Oh my, thank you. You saved my life”. Myra expressed her words short of breath and
visibly shaken. The blood had rushed from her face and her eyes were wide and
glazed over with shock. Clem looked despondently into her eyes and lost himself
to the moment. He brushed the hair from her face and continued to hold her
close. Mesmerized by her beauty he bent slowly towards her and kissed her lightly
across the lips. She responded to her savior and kissed him back. Her face
flushed red with desire and she pulled back apparently embarrassed by her
behavior. “I’m sorry, please don’t” she whispered. Clem continued to hold her
and responded back, .
